Delta Dental of Rhode Island Attachment Requirements

Pursuant to Rhode Island Regulations, Delta Dental of Rhode Island and Altus Dental require that all radiograph attachments include the date that the radiograph was taken. Failure to include the creation date will result in rejected claims. Enforcement of this policy will begin in January of 2015.

The file date, displayed in the Include Attachments dialog box, cannot serve this purpose since it is not submitted with the claim and may not accurately represent the date the radiograph was taken. Instead, the radiograph creation date must be added to the attachment notes.

To include an original file date for a Dentrix attachment

  1. With a patient selected in the Ledger, from the Options menu, click Ledger + History.
  2. Double-click a transaction in the transaction log.
    The Primary Dental Insurance Claim window appears.
  3. Double-click Claim Information.
    The Insurance Claim Information dialog box appears.
  4. Click Include Attachment(s).
    The Include Attachments dialog box appears.
  5. Double-click the attachment.
    The Attachment Information dialog box appears.
  6. Type a note that specifies the original creation date for the file attachment.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click Close, and then click OK.
