TeamSmile is giving back

As a general dentist in Kansas City for over 25 years, I want to tell you about a fun, new way for you and your patients to give back. It is easy to execute, “no brainer” program called Recycle-A-Smile, and it helps dentists turn metals they collect from dental procedures into tax deductible, monetary donations to TeamSmile, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that I founded ten years ago.

TeamSmile provides free, life changing dental care and oral health education to underserved children here in the US by facilitating partnerships between dental professionals, pro and major college sports teams, and dental organizations like Colgate and Henry Schein Dental. We host one-day programs in the teams’ stadiums, where children receive the latest and greatest in dental care using state of the art equipment. Since 2007, TeamSmile has helped 25,000 children in the US receive $15 million in free dental care.

To participate, all you have to do is place the scrap metals from your dental procedures in a postage-paid container. Once it is full, simply call the number on the container, and it will be picked up at your practice. You will receive notification of the settlement amount from the refinery that collected it, as well as a letter from TeamSmile regarding your tax-deductible contribution. Last year, I collected and donated three full containers.

To make it fun for you and your patients, you can post to your website, and social media accounts pictures and videos of yourselves with your Recycle-A-Smile container. And, in your own words, you can let everyone know that you are giving back through TeamSmile’s Recycle-A-Smile Program. You can also send these photos and videos to our Social Media Coordinator, Maria Eiserman, at maria@teamsmile.org, so that she can post it to TeamSmile’s website and social media outlets.

Included with your Recycle-A-Smile collection container is a pamphlet with more details about our Recycle-A-Smile Program. To participate and receive your postage-paid container or for any questions, please visit our website at www.teamsmile.org or contact our Executive Director, John McCarthy, at john@teamsmile.org.

Thank you in advance for any donations you and your patients provide. I hope you will participate and have fun with this program, knowing that your efforts are helping children here in the US.

Sincerely,
