Henry Schein Practice Solutions (HSPS) has received reports of someone calling dental practices posing as an HSPS employee and asking for remote access to the office servers. HSPS will not make unexpected calls to our customers to access their server or systems for an unknown reason.
These fraudulent callers reportedly provide multiple reasons for their call, including suggesting you have problems with your backups, viruses, hardware failures or similar issues. They then ask for remote access to your system.
We recommend that all our customers employ common practices for responding to unexpected and unknown callers, such as not providing sensitive information and verifying the identity of the caller.
If you receive a call claiming to be from Henry Schein, but you believe may be fraudulent, we recommend you:
Our technical support teams may make outbound calls to customers who they have been working with to resolve specific problems, but these calls are planned with the office during a prior contact.
On occasion, HSPS Technical Support representatives do make unexpected outbound calls to customers to provide them with information, such as when an important software update is available.
If HSPS representatives ask to remotely access your system they will always do so through our secure remote web application at remote.dentrix.com. If anyone asks to remote into your system through any other website we recommend that you do not allow them to do so unless they are a trusted business partner with your office.
