What is Guru Limited Edition?
Guru Limited Edition is automatically installed with DENTRIX G3. Guru LE includes 20 patient education topics that can be accessed from the DENTRIX Presenter or from Guru. Guru offers many animations and still images to educate your patients.

Why are there Guru 3.0 installation Discs in my DENTRIX G3 package?
A full version of Guru is provided with every DENTRIX G3 package for practices wanting to begin using Guru immediately. For information on purchasing and licensing the full version of Guru with hundreds of additional patient education topics, please call 1-888-846-3391 before installing Guru.

What DENTRIX G3 training options are available for my office?
Your first stop should be www.dentrix.com/g3/g3_training/previews.asp. On this Web page you can view several free online previews that will introduce you to exciting new features in DENTRIX G3.

For in-depth training, you can schedule a DENTRIX G3 in-office training session by contacting our Partners in Practice team at 1-800-336-8749, option 3, option 1. If you prefer to receive your training away from the office, you can register to attend a DENTRIX Advantage seminar at www.dentrix.com/training.

Customers on an active customer service plan can view online software tutorials at www.dentrix.com/training. Our current library includes over 20 DENTRIX tutorials. In April 2008, we will begin adding new tutorials to help you learn how to use features in DENTRIX G3.

How can I get an updated DENTRIX G3 User’s Guide?
When you install DENTRIX G3, we’ll put a shortcut to a PDF version of the User’s Guide on your computer desktop. You can download extra copies online at www.dentrix.com/g3/documentation.asp. You can also purchase a printed copy of the User’s Guide for $39.95 (including shipping). Contact a sales representative at 1-800-336-8749, option 1. Major credit cards are accepted.

Can I upgrade from DENTRIX Version 11.0 straight to DENTRIX G3?
Yes

Will the Voice and Dictation software I purchased in the past work with DENTRIX G3?
No. Several upgrade options exist for users of previous versions of Voice according to the following conditions. VoicePro upgrade and support conditions:

  • The Annual Support Fee of $149 is sold as a companion to the VoicePro 5.0 product. Support for VoicePro 5.0 is not covered as part of any DENTRIX Customer Service plan.
  • Customers who purchase Voice & Dictation version 4.0 and have a current Voice Support Plan (frequently called “One Source”) or have a current DENTRIX Classic Support Plan will receive VoicePro 5.0 as part of that Support Plan will be asked to purchase VoicePro 5.0 Annual Support at the time their Voice Support Plan or DENTRIX Classic Support Plan expires.
  • Customers with Voice & Dictation Version 4 without a current Voice Support Plan or DENTRIX Classic Support Plan may acquire VoicePro 5.0 by purchasing 3-years upfront of VoicePro 5.0 Annual Support for the amount of $447.00 (3 years @ $149).

Will the new VoicePro Version 5.0 work with previous versions of DENTRIX such as G2 and 11.0?
No

How long will the G3 document center conversion take (during the DENTRIX G3 server install)?
During the conversation process of G3, the Document Center image files will be converted to a new ZED file format. The amount of time required to convert the DENTRIX G3 Document Center files depends on the number of Document Center Files that are currently in the data base and the speed of the computer. For example, a database that has a substantial amount of Document Center images will take much more time to convert than a database that one that has 10 or 15 Document Center images. It is important to note that sufficient time is planned for the completion of the conversion process if the data base has images in the Document Center.

  • If the size of the current Docfiles folder is less than 500mb, then DENTRIX will automatically convert these files and no option to decline the conversion will appear.
  • If the size of the current DocFiles folder is larger than 500mb, a screen will give three options:
  1. Convert the DENTRIX database AND the document Center files now. (Strongly Recommended).
  2. Cancel the upgrade to DENTRIX G3 now so that you may restart at a more convenient time.
  3. Convert ONLY database now and Document Center files separately (LEAST RECOMMENDED). This will start the Document Center file conversion in the background. DENTRIX may be used once the install is complete. Document Center files may not be available and DENTRIX will run noticeably slower until the conversion is complete.

    Choosing option 1 is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED as the document center file conversion will complete BEFORE the installation completes! Once the conversion is complete a message will appear saying that the conversion was successful.

    NOTE: Please refer to the document “BEFORE YOU BEGIN” located on the G3 Installation CD (Disk1) inside of the Documentation folder for steps on how to prepare for the install.
