Joining medical insurance carriers

Joining medical insurance carriers merges two insurance carriers into one.

Important: You must close all Dentrix modules on every computer in your practice before joining medical insurance carriers; otherwise, you risk corrupting your database. After closing all modules, open the Office Manager on a single computer to make the necessary changes.

To join medical insurance carriers

1.   In the Maintenance menu in the Office Manager, point to Reference, and then click Insurance Maintenance.

The Insurance Maintenance dialog box appears.

2.   Click the Medical tab and then click Join Plans.

The Join Insurance Plans dialog box appears.

3.   Do one of the following:

·        Employer-based - Select to move all subscribers attached to an insurance plan linked to a specific employer to another insurance plan that is linked to the same employer.

·        Subscriber's Employer must match Insurance Plan Employer field - (Optional) Select to move only subscribers who are assigned the same employer in the Family File.

·        Plan-to-Plan - Select to join insurance plans, regardless of employers.

4.   Click the Source Insurance Plan search button.

The Select Medical Insurance Plan dialog box appears.

5.   Select the insurance plan that you want to join with the destination insurance plan and click OK.

6.   Click the Destination Insurance Plan search button.

The Select Medical Insurance Plan dialog box appears.

7.   Select the insurance plan that you want to join the source insurance plan to and click OK.

8.   Click Join.

A message appears.

9.   To move all subscribers from the source insurance plan to the destination insurance plan, click Yes.

A message appears at the completion of the merge or if no subscribers matching the criteria associated with the source insurance plan exist.
