Q: What is Dentrix G4 Productivity Pack 8?
A: Productivity Pack 8 includes several new software features and enhancements, including:

Q: How can I obtain the Productivity Pack 8 Release Guide?
A: You can download this guide from the Dentrix Resource Center by going to www.dentrix.com/resource-center. After logging in, click the Manuals tab, and click Productivity Pack 8 under Dentrix G4.


Q: Who should install Productivity Pack 8?
A: All Dentrix customers can benefit from the new software features and enhancements in this upgrade. Productivity Pack 8 is a free upgrade and is available to all customers on a current customer support plan.


Q: Do I need to install Productivity Pack 7 before installing Productivity Pack 8?
A: Yes, Productivity Pack 7 must be installed before you can install Productivity Pack 8. Productivity Pack 8 is not a cumulative install. It does not include enhancements provided in Productivity Pack 7 or earlier service packs and productivity packs.


Q: Does Productivity Pack 8 include the Dentrix Practice Advisor Hotfix released on May 24, 2010 and the Productivity Pack 7 Hotfix released on July 14, 2010?

A:   Yes, the software changes from both of these hotfixes are included in this release. However, Productivity Pack 8 does not include the enhancements provided in the initial Productivity Pack 7 release or in earlier service packs and productivity packs.


Q: How do I get Productivity Pack 8?
A: This upgrade is available to download any time at www.dentrix.com/support/software-updates. Users who have installed Productivity Pack 7 and eSync and are on a Dentrix Customer Service Plan are automatically notified of the update via the Check for Updates feature within Dentrix.

Note: The Check for Updates feature must be enabled to receive the upgrade. (To enable Check for Updates, from the Maintenance menu in the Office Manager, point to Practice Setup, then click Preferences. On the General Options tab, under Startup Options, select Automatically Check for Updates.) Once the update alert is displayed, the upgrade will be ready to download and install.

You can also manually check for updates by clicking the Dentrix Quick Launch menu, clicking Updates, and then Check for Updates.

Q: How long will it take to download and install Productivity Pack 8?

A: The time will vary depending on your Internet connection, computer speed, and the size of your database. Because changes need to be made to the database, the installation may take a while. It is recommended that you wait to download and install updates during a time that you will not be actively using Dentrix. (The download file size is approximately 150 MB.)


Q: Do I need to close my Dentrix software modules before running the installation?
A: You should close all Dentrix modules at the workstation where you are installing Productivity Pack 8.

(If certain Dentrix modules that need to be updated are left open, the installation will prompt you to close them before it can proceed.) Once computers have completed the installation, they may run Dentrix immediately, even if other computers on the same network have not yet finished the installation.


Q: Will the installation program ask me to make any selections or answer any technical questions?
A: The installation program installs updates to several components of Dentrix. As the installation progresses, you will given information about the installation and asked if you want to continue with the installation. When the installation finishes, you’ll be asked to click Finish.


Q: Will I need to reboot my computer after installing the upgrade?
A: No.
