  HIPAA 5010
As part of the HIPAA EDI rules, healthcare providers must be fully compliant with the new HIPAA 5010 electronic requirements by January 1, 2012. While that deadline may seem far away, it’s quickly becoming a concern for providers who are hearing more and more about the update.

The HIPAA 5010 update replaces the 4010/4010A requirements. In the 5010 update, many of the changes occur in the transmission of data and will be unnoticeable to Dentrix users. The most obvious impact of the 5010 requirements will be in the submission of electronic claims. Once the changes take effect, each claim will require information that was not included previously. The 5010 update also accommodates the introduction of the ICD-10 code set, which must be used for medical diagnosis and inpatient procedures beginning October 1, 2013.

  Electronic Prescription Feature…coming in 2011
Minnesota Law requires that effective Jan 1, 2011 all providers must establish a plan to implement an electronic prescription drug program that complies with Minnesota Statutes, section 62J.497.

We are pleased to inform you that in 2011 HSPS will be contracting with a “Certified” e-prescribe vendor to create a two-way integration from your practice management software through the e-prescribe module to be received by the selected pharmacy.

Development will begin in 2011 with a scheduled release the same year.

  Trojan CU2
In Component Update 2, fixes or enhancements have been made to the following features: printing the Managed Care Fee Schedule, Fees in the Fee Schedule window, and importing the SupPmt column to the Payment Table.

The component update must be installed on each workstation that runs Trojan 6.0.

  1. Click here for the TV60CU2.exe file. The File Download dialog box appears.
  2. Click Save to save the file to your computer. The Save As dialog box appears.
  3. Expand the Save in drop-down list by clicking the arrow. Select Desktop from the list.
  4. Click the Save button to save the file to your computer’s desktop. When the file has been saved, the Download Complete dialog box appears.
  5. If you want to run the update now, click the Run button. If a security warning appears, click Run to continue with the installation. Click Yes to install the Component Update 2. Click Finish when the install is complete.
  6. If you want to run the update later, click the Close button and run the update at a later time by double clicking the TV60CU2 icon on your Desktop. Click the Run button. If a security warning appears, click Run to continue with the installation. Click Yes to install the Component Update. Click Finish when the install is complete.
  7. Install the Component Update on every computer in your office using one of the following three methods. The first method requires an Internet connection at each computer in your office. The second option does not require an Internet connection at each computer, but it requires a CD burner or external drive. The third option is more technical and should not be attempted without the help of a CIE or computer technician.


Option 1: Repeat steps 1 – 7 on each individual computer.

Option 2: Burn the Component Update file to a CD using a CD burner or copy the file to an external storage device, such as a jump drive. Take the CD or jump drive to each computer, save the TV60CU2 file to the Desktop. Double click the file on the Desktop and follow the instructions that appear to install the Component Update.

Option 3: Copy the file into the Dentrix folder on the server (ie. C:\Program Files\Dentrix\DATA\Installs\g3). Then, from each workstation, browse to the server’s Dentrix Installs folder and double click TV60CU2.exe to install the update.

  VoicePro 5.0 Component Update 1
If you installed Dentrix G3 and VoicePro 5.0 AND are a Dentrix Image user you will need to install the VoicePro 5.0 Component Update on your server and all workstations operating Dentrix G3. This will fix the error you receive when switching to the Image pane.

The component update must be installed on each workstation that runs Dentrix G3, VoicePro 5.0 and Dentrix Image.

  • Copy VP5CU1.exe to each computer and double click the file
    Or
  • Copy the file into the Dentrix G3 Installs folder on the server (ie. C:\Program Files\Dentrix\DATA\Installs\g3), then from each workstation browse to the server's G3 Installs folder and double click the VP5CU1.exe

  Practice Assistant Viewer
The Practice Assistant Viewer is for use by those NOT using the software day to day. The Practice Assistant Viewer allows non-Dentrix users to view reports and other documents created by the Dentrix Practice Assistant. Reports can be sent via email as well.
